The shock that ripped through the crowd when he announced King's death is still chilling. There had been rumors in the hall, I think, but no confirmation.
That couldn't have happened the same way today. Everyone in the hall would have gotten a dozen cellphone calls beforehand and would have been checking CNN and Fox sites on their iPhones. Many might have left before the speech was given.
RFK did a great job in a matter of minutes after the event. It's all the more powerful given that he would die the same way two months later.
