According to MetLife, the average life expectancy of a person born the year I was is 72 years. I do however have a 50/50 chance of hitting 83.
So ... if I look at my life expectancy as a game of golf (even if nothing untoward happens), I am on the back nine of my years. Precisely, if I assume a par 4 (and that I'm shooting par), I just hit the tee shot on the 11th hole and I'm watching the ball reach its apex over the fairway.
If my life were a football game, there would be about 10 minutes and change left in the third quarter.
A baseball game? There'd be one out in the top of the 6th.
Yikes.
I'm struggling with this because I really feel like I've not even begun to touch what I should be doing with my time. Perhaps this exercise - which really points up how little time I have for counterproductive nonsense - will help me get more serious about finding God's will and better prioritize my schedule.

You had to go and put it that way, did you? Well, you are right, based on life expectancy. I hope that we even have that much time left. One never knows. Great post. Now I get to spend time with the boys. That will be in the back of my mind.
