Providence Ministries

I've discovered some new friends at another blog.

Providence Ministries is a group of people headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota who are doing all they can to help Haitian Christians in practical, lasting ways that the Haitians themselves can perpetuate. They travel frequently to Haiti and work closely with individuals in need, becoming involved in their daily lives.

One of these heroes is a pediatrician named Jen, a fellow U2 and Bono fan. She recently finished her residency and is currently living in Haiti full-time, working two shifts every day (free of charge) at local clinics and hospitals. She sees severe cases of malnutrition, malaria, tuberculosis, parasites, and HIV/AIDS while hampered with extremely limited facilities. It's amazing that this young woman was completing medical education in June and was in that country to help others by September.

Keep them in your prayers and - if you feel led - send them some support via their PayPal link.

For those of you with weather on the brain (i.e., the only other person who seems to read this blog!), they have several posts detailing their rain and flooding experiences and most recently their brush with the Noel system without the aid of professional weather reports.

How did I find this blog? I was clicking on my profile, finding people who had similar taste in books, and through 'Celebration of Discipline' I found the profile of PM member Terri.

Of course, this was all blind luck. Right.

Hey, thanks for linking to our blog! And just for the record...we're not Catholic. Most of the missions work here in Haiti is Catholic and in my opinion (as a former Catholic) this is one of the areas that the Catholics get it right.

Anyway, hope you keep up with us.

You're welcome. And the confusion is rectified. I'm still here!
