Remember the first time you ever watched a Bob Ross painting show? After he'd created a gorgeous sky and mountain range, you saw Bob take his palette knife, work a roll of black paint onto it, and scrape a thick vertical line down the length of the painting or a huge blob in the center. You thought, "Oh no! He's destroying that beautiful picture!" Then you discovered it was the foundation for a colorful tree or a rustic barn in the foreground, adding depth, perspective, or a touch of humanity to the image. Over time, you learned to trust Bob when he brought the palette knife out.
Same goes for life. Sometimes I think a thing is destroying my life when often it is really the beginning of a vital new component that deepens and enriches it. Over time, I need to learn to trust God when He brings the palette knife out.
