Friends

After the unexpected passing of a friend, I've been reflecting on my friendships the past few days. I always start with these two guys, who have been my best buds from 35 years ago through today.

We've always been there for each other through some of the best and worst things life can possibly hand human beings. We've each made mistakes and found the others there with a ready ear and a word of advice but no judgment to share. Sometimes we have to be reminded that's still available but we come around.

I had no idea what God had in store for me when I first sat down next to Rob in 8th grade or when Mike walked into the cafeteria in 9th. We were deep-thinking, deep-feeling, deep-talking kids but we thought life was mostly about music, sports, books, the impact girls had on us, the rules of social interaction, and our purpose in life. Oh, wait. It still is (pretty much).

I'm very thankful I've had these men along for the adventure.
